Health and Safety
Action without thought is like shooting without aim.
Old Gregorians (Downside) and Friends Sep 07' Shoot in Aid of the Downside Youth Fisher Club - Bermondsey London
Broadside strives at achieving the right balance of safe environment, good fun and achievement through safe shooting. No alcohol should be consumed prior to the event and if deemed under the influence we have the right to refuse handling of the weapon and further participation.
As part of our comprehensive safety brief we also believe in promoting basic best practice methodology, which includes the following:

- Always keep barrels pointed in a safe direction and NEVER aimed at anyone.
- All guns should be unloaded when not actually in use - and preferably carried in a gunslip between shooting stands.
- Don't rely on your gun's safety catch.
- Be sure of your target and what's beyond it.
- If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, handle with care, & wait for 30 seconds with the gun pointing downwards in a safe direction. The instructor will be at hand to safely unload weapon for you.
- Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting.
- Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting.
- Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility; Have a safe shoot.
